These two miniatures are intended to contrast each other in texture and mood.
Sea Memory evokes images and memories of the Oregon coast on a cold, gloomy day; images that are sullen, gray, and somewhat foreboding. The second movement, Firefight, gives the impression of intense heat and frenetic motion.
